Helping yourself… The introduction of self-issue at Edge Hill

April 10, 2006 by · No Comments · Customer Services, General Learning Services News

Learning Services have introduced more new facilities, to enhance your study experience. In addition to our current self-issue machine, we have added a further two self issue and one self return machine. This means that you can return your books yourself, and they will immediately come off your library account.

Why self issue?

Learning Services are always working on new projects, and introducing self-issue has allowed us to use staff time elsewhere. Recent projects include digitisation of key material (that chapter of a book that you needed?), reading list management and SMS text messages to students. Staff will also be around more to help you on a one to one basis, and if you ever get stuck all you need to do is ask at the helpdesk or call us on 01695 584286.

Things you can help yourself to:

Issue items using the self-issue machines

Learning Services is beginning a pilot project on Monday 20th March, which will involve texting our users to inform them of library notices. This will include reservation notices, courtesy notices (to remind you an item is due back) and overdue notices.

Initially 50 staff and students will take part in the pilot test, but if you would like to be involved please email your library barcode/student ID and mobile phone number to library@edgehill.ac.uk.
